It's very typical of KyoAni moe-SoL in a very literal sense: slices/snapshots of life living in a market district. On the other hand, the show shines in its character interactions and can get very sweet/adorable. The series was largely episodic and, at points, quite forgettable (I watched it over the weekend and don't really remember much of what had happened other than a few specific things). Some of its characters (looking at you effeminate bird) were a little flat or annoying. I personally wasn't too enamored by Tamako Market. The inherent stories and conflicts introduced in Tamako Market get resolved in its end, so Love Story is more of a self-contained romance story borrowing on Tamako Market's characters than a sequel. If you want to watch Tamako Love Story, I think you can watch about half of Tamako Market or a bit more to get a gist of the characters then dive into Tamako Love Story.
